This scan is usually performed at 7-10 weeks of pregnancy to confirm the presence of fetal heart beat.
It may also be performed when there is vaginal spotting/bleeding or abdominal pain in early pregnancy.

This scan is carried out from 11 weeks to 13 weeks and six days.

She is skilled in various types of ultrasound scans for pregnancy and for Gynec conditions. To name a few, she does NT scan, anomaly detection, echocardiography, growth assessments, doppler examination, multifetal pregnancy scans, monitoring for complications in monochorionic pregnancy, neurosonogram, 3D & 4D ultrasound, amniocentesis and counselling for fetal abnormalities. She is also trained in fetal interventions, both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Dr. Ashwini completed her MBBS from Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI) and MS in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, from ESI PGIMSR, Bengaluru. She has two post-doctoral fellowships in the area of Fetal and Maternal Medicine. She has certifications of competence from Fetal Medicine Foundation, UK. She has also obtained MRCOG degree from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, UK.
She is an active academician, has been invited to various talks, and has published in peer-reviewed journals in the area of Fetal Medicine. She was also a faculty trainer for Fetal Medicine fellowship programs.
